Usable art
Plenty of wood cups look good on a shelf and ruin a pour. These were built the other way around.
The pieces
Tumblers, tulip-shaped whiskey sippers, shot glasses and matched pairs. These are past pieces, shown so you can see the range. New pieces go to the waitlist first.

Dark walnut with gold resin in every crack. Star-shaped resin base.

Tulip-shaped whiskey sipper on a short foot. Spalted wood held in clear resin.

Red oak with a resin-filled crack circling the bowl, on a clear resin foot.

Figured burl with dark resin pockets. The grain shifts as it turns in the light.

Two spalted tumblers in smoked resin with a fine shimmer.

One tapered cup with a swirling knot, one straight cup with wood shards standing in clear resin.

Dark spalting spots and amber resin. The base locks the wood together like a star.

A tall stemless cup and a matching shot glass from the same pour.

Looking straight down inside: warm figured wood under a mirror polish.

How they're made
Made one at a time by Kevin Mitchell, a cabinetmaker in Haleyville, Alabama.
Fresh-fallen Alabama hardwood. Oak, walnut, burl, spalted pieces. Each batch is shaped by what came down that season.
Cracks, voids and loose pieces are filled and locked in food-safe epoxy resin, then turned and shaped. The flaws become the design.
Food-grade safe, tested for about six years for durability and to make sure nothing leaches into the spirit. No char flakes, no oily residue. Built to be poured into, not just looked at.
Care
This glass used to be a tree.
Some days it still thinks it is.
Keep it from remembering, and it will last for years.
Hand wash only, with cool to lukewarm water and mild dish soap. Use a soft sponge, never abrasive pads or brushes. Towel dry right away. Do not leave it wet.
No dishwasher. No microwave. No freezer or extreme heat, including a hot car or long hours in direct sun. No muddling: this is a serving glass, not a mixing glass. No soaking or standing liquids. No harsh soaps or chemicals.
Store upright on a dry surface. Do not turn it upside down on a wet surface.
The outer coat is a food grade beeswax layer that carries the subtle smoke note. It wears with use by design. A few times a year, renew it with a light coat of Howard's food grade beeswax and buff gently with a soft cloth.
Built for moderate use at home or behind the bar. Not intended for high-volume commercial service.

For bars and bartenders
A piece on the back bar starts conversations. Every one is different, so regulars notice. Built for display and special pours, not high-volume service. For bar owners, bartenders and whiskey clubs:
A one-off tumbler or sipper for the top shelf pour, the house special or the bourbon flight.
Matched pairs and small sets for a bar, a whiskey club or a tasting room. Each glass is hand-turned on the lathe, so sizes vary slightly from one to the next.
A gift for the regular who has everything, a retiring bartender or the person behind the bar who knows your order.
Bar and bulk orders go through the waitlist too. Join it and note that it's for a bar.
